Plex - HDR tonemapping no HW - iGPU

Hello,

I have a problem with transcoding on plex not using my iGPU bun only when I enable HDR tone mapping. I see the following in the logs:

log:

[Req#48492/Transcode] Preparing driver icr for GPU AlderLake-S GT1

[Req#48492/Transcode] Preparing driver imd for GPU AlderLake-S GT1
[image]

But then I see it’s using the CPU for transcoding. Again using it on non-hdr content it works and plex uses the UHD Graphics 770 to transcode

Intel-GPU-TOP is installed and I am assuming that I use the right docker settings since non-hdr content transcode without a hitch.

Does anyone have an idea where the problem lies?

Thank you,

Soul

Replying to keep this thread alive as I’m having the same issue.

I migrated my Plex library from a Terramaster (TOS5) setup to UnRAID and everything works, including HW transcoding via Intel-GPU-TOP and opening access via /dev/dri. If I turn on HDR Tone Mapping though, it doesn’t use the iGPU and buffers like no other.

It worked perfectly fine with TOS5 so I’m not sure what the issue is.

There was a reddit thread where someone had the same issue and ended up reinstalling Plex from scratch which seemed to fix the issue. I have spent a lot of time on metadata customization (i.e., posters, collections, etc.) though and would prefer not to go this route unless absolutely necessary.
