Plex Home Theatre dead?

You can customize that and “pin” all the libraries you want to access regularly on that particular client to the side bar. See the Youtube link above.

The Magic will return - as soon as you realize how badly Emby Sucks and PMP is your ONLY option.

The Pinning Process - is one of the things about ‘New Plex’ that is pretty much universally hated by everyone except those that developed it - you’ll get used to that as well… in time.

I ran it a while back (6 months or so) - it’s already dead. My advice is to make the switch to PMP. Yank the band-aid off - the healing will begin once it can get some air.

You will come to like it, as I do. I hated UNO at first - then found out it’s better - once I turn it more into ‘me’ and less into ‘Plex’ by a few customizations and realizing my options are VERY Limited (and also knowing how badly Emby Sucks).

I admire your optimism, but what you see is, pretty much, what you get. You’ll, for the most part, get used to it - and that’s the overall development plan Plex has in place.

Thanks for the tips re: pinning. I knew to do this, but it just wasn’t working. Had to shut it down and restart and now it’s OK.

Oddly, when I installed OpenPHT yesterday it worked, or at least I was able to log in and link to my account. Even trailers are working again, which had stopped on PHT sometime over the past year (always got a failed directory message). It’s still exactly what I want.

I think Plex still has a great future and hopefully the coders will take the time to return some of the old aesthetics and flow of the GUI. I really don’t see how all the changes to the back-end have to change the front end. But alas, I’m not a coder.

Maybe they can employ some boomers on the development team.

They almost have one in place as the CTO (he hasn’t aged quite enough yet), but when he shows up he’s selling Shields… and finding out how ‘Rowdy’ Home Theater People are when you want to change horses in the middle of the raging river:

It’s a good read - for a LONG weekend.

The moral of the story is:
PMP will be around for a while - Yay!

And thanks for chatting. In the 30 years I’ve been using the net, this is the first time I’ve ever had any sort of interactive discussions on a chat board! (and Plex was one of the first peices of software I actually spent any money on).

Regardless of my disappointment in the new user interface, I do think the Plex team had done a great job in creating software for the home video enthusiast and am grateful of them for it.
