Does anyone else have issues with using an MCE remote and Plex HTPC on Windows 10?
Sometimes (but not always) pressing “pause” displays the OSD (On Screen Display, showing the playback controls) but doesn’t actually pause the video.
When the OSD is displayed, pressing “pause” or “play” causes the video to jump a couple of frames. It is not possible to pause or unpause the video whilst the OSD is being displayed.
Hitting “fast foward” or “rewind” causes the video to jump in 1 minute increments, rather than move the progress bar rapidly forwards or backwards.
Is this fixable or should I just go back to the legacy Plex Media Player?
No problem, thank you and I have attached the log.
I launched Plex HTPC, started playing something, paused it successfully but then couldn’t unpause it whilst the OSD was visible. Worth noting that, when paused, I tried pressing both the “play” button and the “pause” button - neither of which unpaused the video.
I then waited until it disappeared, tried to pause again where it failed but the OSD appeared. I think I then tried to push both “play” and “pause” again to demonstrate that I couldn’t press those buttons with the OSD visible.
After that, I uses the ffwd and rwd. You’ll notice that it jumps ahead rather a lot - although interestingly I was able to get it to rwd in a shorter increment than 1 minute. The jumps caused buffering to occur - although I’ve never had that previously.
Just to add, I’ve now installed Plex Media Player (2.58.0.1076-38e019da) and play and pause works correctly as well as fast forward and rewind. I’m also able to pause and unpause video whilst the OSD is visible.
Looks like your remote is sending both the keyboard commands as well as the media commands so effectively the commands are doubled.
You could try as a workaround going into the app support directory (where you found the logs directory), copying inputmaps/default/keyboard.json to inputmaps/keyboard.json and removing the last four entries in the file (the ones that start with Media ) and see if that works around the issue.
