HTPC uses MPV for its playback engine so nearly all of your questions are more asking what it can do. This means it supports nearly every format you can find. I thought about listing what it supports but it’s faster to state what it doesn’t:
- AV1 is not supported yet
- DTS-HD decoding is not supported due to legal reasons. Though DTS-HD passthrough is supported.
- Dobly Vision is not supported due to legal reasons
You can get back these by substituting your own MPV library as outlined in the Tips/Tricks thread.
HDR10 is supported. HDR10+ and HLG I think are supported when using the vulkan rendering in a substituted MPV library in that they are tone mapped to the output colorspace used by the computer but don’t quote me on that. DoVi is tonemapped to the output colorspace in a substituted MPV library.
