sorry to be clear, tried the base modules with kldload command and then also tried by updating the i915kms.so module with a later version with the same outcome no /dev/dri nodes (/dev/drm does get created)

Having the same problem, a few forums hint to the fact that Iām running the machine headless (no xorg).
