So i was trying to download a movie using plex app for iOS, and i noticed that it converts the whole movie whatever the quality you choose is. Why exactly does plex do that ? just to put a huge load on my CPU? All my movies were processed using handbrake to play in all devices yet plex converts them every time i try to download something. I thought i would test what would infuse do when i download. expectedly it downloaded everything without converting, and the subtitle was their! BTW plex doesn’t download subtitles along with content.
The mobile sync feature in Plex is old and isn’t able to support modern codecs. There is a revamp of the feature coming, it’s just not ready yet. We are testing it for Android currently and hope to bring it to iOS in the near future.
