I am running most recent Plex server on a MacBook Pro. I have three video libraries. TV, Movies, and Recordings, which is where I send all DVR recordings. When testing out DVR settings with HomeRun Connect, I made the mistake of setting a recording for a show that already existed in my library, with the “delete after watching” option checked. Little did I know that it was deleting the files from not only my “Recordings” Library, but also from the “TV” library as well. When I discovered this, I removed that particular series, and a few others, from the recording schedule, and have set everything that remains to “never delete.” However, adding the particular series in question back to the library only results in the files being deleted, from Plex and HDD every night. I have now set to not empty the trash every day, so I don’t know what that will do, but I am wondering if there is something “stuck” in this recording schedule database – and if so, how to fix it? I have attached logs – I think.
The shows being deleted is caused by the Show settings in the library not the settings for the recording. The recordings settings options sets the library settings when you first create the recording. Go to the library, find the show and click the Edit link. With the show settings displayed go to the Advanced settings and change the keep and delete settings.
You are THE best! I thought I had checked every setting on every freakin page… I thank you SO much for your reply! That was driving me crazy – not too long of a journey, truth be told…
