Plex is not decoding DTS-HD MA 7.1 properly. When I have passthrough turned off Plex only sends 5.1 PCM to the receiver not 7.1.
My windows sound config on the desktop is set to 7.1 channels. Channels setting in Plex Media Player is set to Auto. Plex Dash shows it reading the 7.1 audio stream and that’s the only stream for the movie.
If I turn passthrough on then Plex passes DTS-HD MA 7.1 to the receiver. (However I get audio dropouts so that’s not a good solution)

Typically you want to use passthrough so the receiver handles the decoding. When I had issues like this it was because of a bad encoded movie and it had time stamp issues. The dropouts where due to resyncing the audio to the movie.
It doesn’t matter though because I can’t use passthrough due to the audio dropouts. I don’t think the dropouts are due to resyncing the audio as my PC supports display mode switching, which is enabled, and the sync mode is set to audio. That should mean the audio is not resampled.(https://support.plex.tv/articles/115000473213-settings-plex-media-player/)
I should also mention that with passthrough enabled the dropouts occur on all movies and tv shows.
