Plex is not recognizing movie files

I am trying to create a movie library and PLEX is not recognizing the files. Even when i attempt to make the library searching the same folder a home movie library the search comes up empty. Please help!

What do you mean exactly? You have created movie library, added files but Plex does not properly match them?
Could you provide more specific description or screenshot of your problem?

Plex does not seem to recognize the files I have the naming as such: Movies/Batman Begins (2005)/Batman Begins (2005).mp4
I have tried different files and PLEX does not recognize any of them, meaning that my library is empty. I made a tv show library as well and have not had the same trouble.

Ok, so that’s not the problem with matching. You would have at least files populated in your library.
It looks like Plex has problems with permissions. Do you run Plex on Linux by anychance?

Yes I do .

Plex needs at least read rights. Can you check permissions to you Movies folder?

I’ve come across a film that Plex is not picking up at all: Thirteen. I have Thirteen Ghosts in there without issue and there are no duplicates in the movies folder at this time. Is there a way to manually search through, say, the Plex Server client, for that particular file, then add and manually match to the correct content?

How is the file named?
Is it a mp4 file?
Are you using ‘one subtitle per movie’ or do you put all movies into one big folder?

File is MP4, tagged as follows:

Thirteen.MP4

All movies go in the same folder.

That movie should be named Thirteen (2003).mp4

Movies should ALWAYS have the date released in parenthesis as part of the file name. Other namings may work but why would anyone chance it.

There are two Thirteen Ghosts movies and they should be named:
13 Ghosts (1960).mp4
Thir13en Ghosts (2001).mp4
