Plex is transcoding 4k down to 720p for remote play, even though there is a 1080p version of the movie available

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c
Player Version#: ? It is a friends Samsung TV, they are not currently avaiable to check

On the plex website, it says “The multiple versions will be collapsed to a single item in the library. When a Plex app goes to play the collapsed item, it will automatically request and play the most suitable item by default.”

so I created my library with all my movies (including my 4k movies). Plex added all the 4k movies to my library and they show as a ‘2’ in the upper left corner of those movies (One 1080p copy, and One 4k copy). If there is a 1080p copy available, and Plex determines that it cannot direct play the 4k and that it needs a lower resolution (720p is what it seems to be transcoding to) why doesn’t it transcode the 1080p down to 720p instead of the 4k down to 720p? How do I force it to use the 1080 source when transcoding?

I don’t want to have to put my 4k movies in a separate library because It makes navigating my movies cumbersome, it defeats the collections and playlist features, and is more difficult to manage.

Thanks
