I am finding that for specific movies plex is transcoding AC3 audio to AAC. This is occurring on a Samsung television that does support AC3. Other movies that I have tried to stream work perfectly via Direct Play despite using the exact same codecs. I have attached a screenshot of the Dashboard showing the problem as well as the Plex Media Server Log (examples of one movie transcoding and one movie playing directly). I am using a raspberry pi as a plex server and any transcoding at all is not viable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From your logs: “selected audio stream is not the first audio stream and direct play stream selection is not enabled”. Direct Play on your TV requires your desired audio stream to be the first one in your file 
AC3 5.1 is not the first audio stream in any of my movies but in most cases they direct play just fine after selecting AC3.
I have found it 
“Cannot direct play with protocol: http, codec: hevc. Reason: Stream count exceeds 30 streams.” This file most likely just has too many subtitles for the Samsung app to handle.
Thanks drmagoo you are a genius. I removed all subtitles except English and my files are now direct playing perfectly.
