My plex server lives on Ultraseedbox, pretty sure it’s a Linux system under the hood.
But recently, it stopped updating one of my libraries. I’ve scanned and rescanned, checked for stuck scans, restarted the server, did the Upgrade and Repair, did the Optimize, Analyze, even tried updating metadata, nothing fixes it and I have no idea what happened. I hadn’t even touched it lately except to add new audiobooks to the library (same FTP method I always use, I’ve put 1700 books up there with the same method).
I made a new Library from the same directory, but this is my audiobook library and It’s really inconvenient if I have to start over. WHY do I have to start over?? What changed?
EDIT: ohhh. i just went looking for what the latest server version is, and found out a new version JUST came out about a week ago. I wonder if it’s buggy?
First, can you get DEBUG logs files (the ZIP file) so we can see what’s happening?
(try to recreate / rescan / whatever to make the error visible)
After doing this, Restart Plex, wait 3 minutes, then grab the logs.
If you can’t get them from Plex,
– stop plex
– make a tar.gz of the ‘Logs’ directory in its entirety and attach it.
From your logs, we’ll be able to see what it is.

i found the debug section and got a log, but the order of the steps you gave is confusing. get the logs, then restart plex and get the logs? are you looking for a before and after?
anyway, here’s before i restart anything.

Those are the Player logs.
You want to go to Settings - ServerName - Troubleshooting (lower left corner) - Download Logs (button in the middle of the page)

- Keep DEBUG logging enabled.
- Turn VERBOSE logging OFF (we almost NEVER use it)
Your logs capture about 2 minutes of elapsed time (if that) due to all this output.

How much media is stored on the same host Plex is running on?
I ask because automatic notify detection does not work over the network on Linux machines (Windows simulates it by polling frequently)

but the odd part is, OTHER libraries are updating just fine. i’m literally watching something right now that I downloaded earlier this week. TV/movie libraries are updating just fine.
it’s the audiobook library that isn’t updating.
also, if I understand you correctly, you mean the automatic, I still told it to manually scan, and that didn’t help either.
If you do a manual scan and the items are not added
- They are not being matched.
- Please share the exact name and structure you’re using
- Also please confirm user
plex minimally has read permission (sometimes automated tools don’t set permissions as they should)

cloudhost. I just connected by SSH, looks like it’s on Debian, “4.19.0-18-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.208-1 (2021-09-29) x86_64”
Same file structure as previous uploads from the same source.
directory=book title with a misc code
files inside= a m4b and a cue.
and now, it’s got sorting issues. no matter how many times i tell it to show Albums sorted by title, it only wants to show me the list sorted by artist.
and i just discovered something interesting.
i just searched for my sample book, one that was added 11 days ago, one of the ones that made me think it wasn’t updating. it seems it’s THERE and it shows up when i search! it’s just not displaying when i look at the list. so the library knows it’s there. but it’s not showing in the list. (I normally have it sorted by date-added, so I see the NEW ones right at the top.)
I wonder if i’ve hit some sort of threshold…

it’s the roku Plex app, the Linux Plex app, and the Prologue audiobook app that draws from your Plex libraries.
i’m still gathering info. 2 months ago. that’s when the last ones displayed. i’ve added perhaps 20 directories/albums/etc since then. but the last couple before that were non-standard title formats, with asterisks and dashes right in the words.
I’m going to mess with those last couple directories, move them, retitle, etc.

or can you create a directory “bookname [abc123def]” and then create files, bookname [abc123def].m4b and bookname [abc123def].cue ?

I need a real bookname (which Plex can lookup and identify)
then the files in there need to be valid and what Plex accepts.
I am not an audio guy so please forgive my ignorance but I find nothing documented about cue files for Plex.
Yes, I know what they are and , when ripping from a SACD image , how to break out the individual files so Plex can match the Artist / Album / disc x / track - title.ext
