I don’t know if anyone else is having this sort of problem. But it’s been happening for months now and I’m not sure if I’m the only one.
When viewing Live TV from Plex remotely (outside of the local network, through the internet), the quality settings for the video are disabled completely. I’m not sure why, and I don’t know how to fix this. Here’s a pic.
As you can see, under Playback settings, all it gives me is:
AUDIO STREAM
English—AC3 5.1
SUBTITLES
None
Nothing about changing the video transcode settings. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something I overlooked?
So I just did some testing. I just checked and my maximum number of transcodes is set to “Unlimited”, so it’s not that, however, I found something interesting.
This doesn’t really help me however, as I want to keep the remote upstream limit to 4Mbps because I don’t have enough upload bandwidth to play everything over the internet at “Original” quality.
Then, after changing the “Internet upload speed” and “Limit remote stream bitrate” back and forth a couple times and restarting the server, it’s magically started showing transcode options for Live TV again…so I have NO idea what happened. Maybe I had to flush out my settings or something? Here’s what it looks like now.
So I guess, if anyone else is having problems with this? Maybe try changing those settings a few times, and restarting PMS, and maybe it’ll start working for you? I’ll reply back if it starts happening again, and if anyone has any other questions.
