So I have been using plex for many years now and have had very little issues. A couple of months ago I upgraded my network to Ubiquiti hardware. It has some pros and cons, but I got everything working perfectly.
Fast forward to this last weekend, when suddenly plex isn’t working anymore for me. I didn’t make any changes to the server or network, so that was weird. I have played around with a few settings, mostly unblocking IPs that have recently come up in the Threat Management as network threats thinking maybe a Plex IP got in there. None of the stuff I tried helped, so I thought I would try disabling country traffic filtering first as a next big step as that will often let me connect to a site I am having trouble with.
Sure enough, Plex suddenly works perfectly again! So I go back and add in the previous countries I had traffic blocked from one by one until Plex stops working again. Turns out, if I add Ireland to the block list I cannot use Plex anymore. This wasnt a new country I had blocked on my network, it has been blocked since about a week after I had all the new network hardware. The only change seems to be that the login for Plex is for some reason now running through Ireland. I cannot even load the server app on my server itself, which is trying to connect to 127.0.0.10, which makes no sense at all. When I try that IP, it just says the server cannot access plex.tv.
This seems like a major issue to first off change server locations like that, and especially to a country I have a dozen hits from as hackers and malware coming in from that country, and second that even the local only traffic is for some reason trying to do an authentication session with remote servers before it will even allow local traffic.
