Plex Mac Mini Mounting shares

Hello Fellow Plexers

I have brought the new Mac mini, which I have installed plex on. My media is stored on a synology NAS, using SMB to make the connection.

However I’m running into issues with the media share staying mounted to macOS.

Currently I am using auto mounted, to keep the share attached but this method is not flawless.

I am looking for a solution that when the media share disconnects or loses connection that a program/ script will automatically reconnect it. Almost like the server is being pinged to say are you still there.

Any solutions or suggestions would be great, but i have very little experience with scripting in general, but happy to give it ago if it works.

Thanks

I know of three decent options to consider.

One is autofs, built into macOS. I haven’t used it lately, but I just tested and it seems to work fine in Big Sur.

And then there are Automounter and NFS Manager.

I’ve used NFS Manager, but it’s hard to recommend changing to NFS. I know that Automounter is well-respected.
