Plex managed account vs plex account

Hi All, what’s the easiest workflow to allow child at college to access plex. I understand remote access part. Question is more they need both accounts? Managed internal and plex user on web?

For someone who is not living under your roof, it is recomended to have their own plex.tv account.
Simply because the login credentials for all managed users are the same as the server admin’s – i.e. yours. You should not give out your Plex .tv login credentials to anyone else.

The downside of using a separate, full account is that they don’t inherit any Plex Pass benefits from the server admin’s Plex Pass (except remote access).
(While managed users get pretty much all of these benefits.)

I can give library access to only their plex.tv account, and don’t need to assign them a managed one as well.

A user account is either a full plex.tv user account (with their own login credentials and email address), or is a managed user.
A user account cannot be both.

thanks
