Plex Media Server for armhf (arm64) Debian / Ubuntu: Beta Packages

Here is 1.7.6.

@bahia Sorry, I was under the assumption Plex would release 1.7.6 publicly within two days, so I did not bother (and had much to do ^^ )

No problem. Thank you for the good work!

Here is 1.8.0.

@ulymagoo Splendid! Thanks AGAIN!

once again, thank you @uglymagoo!

When viewing this link, https://dev2day.de/plexmediaserver-installer_1.8.0.4109-42bd8c63f-1_armhf.deb. How do you find this link?
https://dev2day.de/ shows no information about the path. It seems impossible to find if you do not already know the name of the file.

That’s the general idea, because it is a PlexPass release and not available to the public. That’s also the reason I post the links in this thread

The public releases are available in my Debian repo (see my signature).

Btw: here is 1.8.1. Somehow I only updated the first post days ago

That’s alright we all slip a little once in awhile! Getting distracted by little annoyances like “LIFE!!!”

If every one would learn to modify your script it would take a lot of load off you my friend. It’s not hard.

And once again Thank You for your Dedication and Support for our little Pis. You are the MAN!!!

systemd? No or Go?

Okay, quite obvious maybe…
Thank you for a good job

Is this still updated? Is there a place to get 1.8.2?

Yes it is still updated. I’m SURE it will be when Uglymagoo gets time! You could learn how to edit his installer yourself if you don’t have the patients. It isn’t hard. Remember this generous man doesn’t get paid for this, and he has been supporting us for years!

DMackG glad you think it’s not hard :), tried off and on for a year and never managed it myself, shame as Uglymagoo is busy so being able to do it myself would have been handy.

@SASSBS , Just needed to ask and you would of received help. But no one asked!

Just as a note…I had NO knowledge of Linux when I started just 3-4 years ago. But for those willing to learn here is how…

All this is done on a Debian Jessie machine It will work just as well from Raspbian Jessie on the Pi2/3 and are using the readynas build, if you are using the Synology build then wait for Uglymagoo to post the new build.

1: Download Uglymagoo’s Installer from: https://github.com/uglymagoo/plexmediaserver-installer/archive/master.zip, must have the current installer or the line numbers may not match.

2: Extract using unrar or your favorite software to a place where you can find it. Exract zip, and rename folder to: plexmediaserver-installer_(what-ever-version-number)_armhf

3: Open extracted folder to the Debian/control in a txt editor, (I am using Pluma. But use any text editor of your choice.) Change line 2 to the proper version number of PMS. Save! Then close.

4: Open the Debian/postinst in Pluma. Change line 31 PMS_URL=‘Address to the PMS of Netgear ARM6.x RN2xx’ Keep the single ‘quotes’

5: At this point I got lazy and just commented out line 33 then 41-47 and saved.
You could download the armel version and generate the Checksum by using the command
sha256sum name_of_file then copy the long set of numbers to line 33 PMS_HASH=‘long_set_of_numbers’ …save the ‘single_quotes’ and save your edits! Then close.

6: Rebuild the deb package…sudo dpkg-deb --build name_of_plex_folder

7: Copy the plexmediaserver-installer_(whatever build number).deb file you just created to your Pi2/3 to: Home/User (who ever the plex user is…plex…pi) and install, sudo dpkg -i plex*.deb

EDIT: DONOT change the tree structure of the scripts!

Hope this helps some.

All this is Uglymagoo’s work! All credit goes to him for the fantastic scripts that makes installing Plex on these micro computers so easy. All I did is played with his work and adjusted for my personal use.

Already edited package can be downloaded from: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/221444/unofficial-armhf-arm64-multiarch-debian-package-e-g-rpi-2-3-bpi-odroid/p1 with patients!

Thanks DMackG that’s pretty much what I got but when I go to install it always fails, not bothered as Uglymagoo does great work.

One of these days I will get enough time to look into it properly.

What is the error you get when installing?

something about versions, unfortunately whatever it did corrupted the install so I am busy trying to fix it at present, oh the joys of a Sunday afternoon

I’m going to try building it myself tonight. Thanks.

Just re-install the previous version 1.8.1 from uglymagoo
