Ive been using Plex for long and I bought it as it is nice app but it is time for the app to start using 64bit encoder as for me Plex became a bottleneck.
I can run any 4K 30mbs in that computer but when I try to transcode to a Samsung TV it becomes a bottleneck. It is using 70% of processor
Is 64bits somehow in the near future or Plex will just turn into a straming service and die ?
I’m not sure what improvement you expect by having the code optimized for 64bit architecture. I mean… sure, there might be some minor improvements if all underlying libraries are available as 64bit … but that’s probably neglectable compared to the massive load it takes to transcode those videos.
IIRC, Plex had accidentally been posting a 64bit version of PMS for Windows some weeks ago. So it seems they’re at least actively working on it.
The other platforms like Mac or Linux should already be available in 64bit versions.
