I’m completely new to Plex and surprised I never ran across it. I’m currently on Roon ROCK with over 100k tracks but have ripped less than half of my music collection. I also have accounts in Qobuz and Tidal I want to integrate as seamlessly as possible. I’m considering moving from Roon to something else early next year when my current subscription ends but haven’t found any setup info on Plex for the configuration I want yet but am probably looking in the wrong places. Here is what I would like to do:
I would like to put the music server on a NUC10i7 connected via USB to my Denafrips Ares II DAC and via s/pdif to DAC in my Meridian component stack. I have a Samsung 980 Pro 512gb nvme ssd on pci and a fast 5 tb WD usb 3.0 HD with 16 GB RAM. I would like to install the Plex media server on Ubuntu 16.x and stream to quite a few Windows and Android devices in my home. If possible I would like to stream outside to the same devices using a native Plex service if available or can go with something like Tailscale. The NUC will be connected via CAT6 to a NAS for backup and potentially for auxiliary storage. I’ve found answers for all my media questions except whether plex can stream m4b audiobook files.
Can someone help point me to the best documentation on how to do this? I’m a Plex noob but am a developer/admin so technical docs will work best for me.
Thanks!
