Plex Media Server - Ubuntu - Help!

I tried to update the media server software last night during the outage, and somehow installed two versions of pms on Ubuntu. I uninstalled the newer one that was never used, but this morning when I went to the splash page I got the screen to start new!

How do i restore my previous configuration? My library is huge, and I made a lot of manual changes to the metadata, how do i recover it?

Server Version#:1.19.4.2902-69560ce1e
Player Version#:

I’ve tried to find the %library.db% but I’m not sure where this should be, would the uninstall have blown it away?

I’m not sure the current state now. The UI thinks its still installed, and it was also removed last night. Do I have to start again, please help?

You used the Ubuntu “Snap” store (all packages from their store are SNAPs)
What you had is gone

Only downloading from Plex.tv and installing the native package will preserve data after uninstall/downgrade.

Did you by any chance make a backup or snapshot of your root drive prior to these issues? If so, you could restore it, then make the necessary changes without blowing out the install

only if the system automatically did this :frowning:

Is there anyway to tell? I’m not sure if Ubuntu has a time machine equivalent?

No…no backups are automated. You’d have to have done it manually.

bugger, I think I’m going to have to create a lot of that metadata again!
I had over 1000 CD’s digitised in there, with a lot of changes made via the Plex UI, which it sounds like I’ll have to touch again… :frowning:

Going to look at backups, and make sure to use the web dl in future rather than the operating system storefront!

Im sorry. But yes, the best rule of thumb is to download directly from repository and run package files manually rather than use storefront.
