Starting over help

I run Plex on an Nvidia Shield (controlled from a macbook). Everything is up to date. My server is pretty much broken. (Mark as played doesn’t work, things take forever to load, if I watch a movie to thinal frame it still appears 10% unwatched and shows up in "continue watching.) So, before I uninstall all updates, restoring Plex to the original settings, is there a way to save my metadata?

The idea being, load the ibraries, then restore from a back up so I don’t have to re-edit 2400 movies? (I actually change the sort name on everyone-- so they appear in order from my favorites.) I think there is as way to do this, does anyone know or have a link to a tutorial?

Really frustrated-- MANY MANY thanks in advance!

Hey @nickysplex_gmail_com,

First, if you uninstall PMS, that should only affect the application, not the database.
Second, you should be able to backup the database through the server web app.
manage > troubleshooting > download database.

I would be concerned that if the install was corrupted quickly, how good is the metadata.

Uninstalling the PMS, strips it of all the data, it restores Plex to the way it was shipped with the shield. (I did this once.) One can’t actually uninstall on the shield, as it ships with PMS, you can only uninstall updates. (So I’m thinking copy the meta data, then uninstall, then try to restore the metadata?)
