This is a friendly announcement that we will soon be increasing the minimum version of Plex Media Server required by our player apps to 1.18.3 or newer. This new minimum version will be required in our Roku app shortly, and other player apps will soon follow.
If you’re running an older version of Plex Media Server and don’t upgrade, your apps may no longer be able to connect to your server. The latest versions are always available on our Downloads page .
While we strive for backwards compatibility with older Plex Media Server versions whenever possible, we occasionally need to raise the minimum version requirement in order to continue to make improvements and bring features to our apps in a maintainable way.
We recognize that a small number of older platforms or operating systems may not be supported by newer Plex Media Server releases, and we apologize for the inconvenience. In such cases, we encourage you (nudge, nudge) to consider upgrading to one of the wide range of modern platforms and operating systems that we currently support.
