Plex Media Server (Windows) to a Nvidia TV 2019 tube version direct stream has stutter

Server Version#: 1.22.0.4136
Player Version#: Nivida Shield TV 8.13.1.23036

Is it normal to stream a 4K UHD movie to a Nvidia shield TV 2019 tube with both audio and video direct playing at 187mbps and I am getting some stutter? The server is Windows that I just uninstalled everything, then fresh install of the latest version of PMS. I deleted the update, cache, and most other folders (including codex) and let the install do the rest. Added my libraries back and let the server finish the metadata updates. Windows server is a 2012R2 running on EXSi 6.5 Xeon CPU E5-2689 @ 2.60GHz 4 processors 16GB ram 64 bit OS, all VMs are hosted on SDD drives. Network is 1GB and not that it matters 1GB fiber internet, because this is all local streaming. The Shield is also ethernet 1GB and is a LG 2021 CX TV that also stutters is hard wired too. At first it was transcoding only the audio from TrueHD 7.1 but changed it to AC3 5.1. The sound is to a Sonos Beam, Sub, and 2 one’s via HDMI and also again not that it should matter because I think the sound goes via HDMI but also Ethernet 1GB. Nothing on the server seems to be a bottle neck (as far as reviewing performance on the Windows machine). The movies are hosted on a Synology 1019+ NAS with the 2 Ethernet ports bound. All Ethernet is running off the same router a Netgear Nighthawk R9000. I think I am really close to getting this ironed out. Anyone have thoughts? Some way to add some additional buffer time to either the tube or the Plex server or other setting to look at?

The 2019 Shield tube models have problems with high bit rate media such as 4K HDR movies and shows. Search the forum with “Shield tube” or similar to see the reports.

The only “fix” is to use a Shield Pro.

The Ethernet port on the TV is 100 Mbps. You will experience buffering with high bit rate material that bursts above 100 Mbps, such as some 4K HDR media.

The WiFi in the TV is faster than the Ethernet port. If you’ve a strong 5 GHz, 802.11ac signal at the TV, try it instead of wired Ethernet.

Do I need the Pro or just the box tv model? Any pros or cons to the older shield pro models? Maybe to be more clear for the new models are there only 2 options the tube = shield TV and the box = shield pro, or is there a box shield TV only. I was looking and see shield TV 4k but is the square box version for 2019.

The pre-2019 models work fine. I have a pre-2019 Pro (with 500 GB drive) and do not have problems playing 4K HDR movies.

The older models do not support Dolby Vision, only HDR10.

The older remote is poorly designed compared to the current remote (personal opinion). When my remote died I bought a 3rd party remote (Amazon) instead of replacing it with the Nvidia version. I think the new remote also works with older Shields (my original remote died before the 2019 version was released).
