Plex Media Servier Has Invalid Digital Signature

Server Version#:1.20.3.3437
Player Version#:

Since the recent update to the Plex version 1.20.3.3437 and a recent QNAP 453 update to version 4.5.1, there seem to be recurrent erroe messages reading ““Some installed applications do not have valid digital signatures” in Security Counsellor”. This seems to quarantine the plex media server and the only way round this seems to be to download a version of plex that is several editions older. Is there going to be a fix for this problem? It only started to occur this weekend but the software gets quarantined every 24 hours.

I would recommend rolling back to QTS v4.4.1.x firmware as there has been a large list of issues identified with 4.5.1 on the QTS forums.

Please do roll back, as suggested by MwC_Trexx, while we investigate.

We are not aware of any change in requirements for signing packages on QNAP.
I suspect it’s a bug on their end. QTS 4.5.1 is brand new.

Thanks. I thought it might be s QTS issue. Rolled back to QTS 4.4 last night so will see what happens this morning. I note that on 4.5 they do say they have removed support for the Plex player so I suspect this has probably caused the errors with the server. I have raised a ticket with them so will wait and see if they fix it.

If they’ve finally removed Plex Home Theater from HD Station – Good. I requested it be removed some time ago.

It was incompatible and no longer maintained.
Additionally, Plex gave it to the Public domain – meaning — no longer supported by Plex. The individual who did package it for QNAP has since discontinued as well.

Is there an update? I upgraded (4.5.1.1465) and am the system is now stopping Plex. Any help would be appreciated.

Not that I know of. I rolled my QTS update back and this resolved it. It seems to be a QTS issue rather than a Plex issue. A ticket has been raised with QNAP and they are “looking into it”.

I have no feedback / info yet from QNAP at this time.
It’s a regression in their QTS signing mechanism which only they can fix.
