Plex NAS: DS718+ Server Set up

Hi all, I recently just got the DS718+ for my Plex Server. With Plex Cloud gone I am now leaning towards a NAS set up over a VPS.

Here is what I got:
1 x 4GB Memory for SYNOLOGY DS718+ DDR3L SO-DIMM RAM Module (PARTS-QUICK BRAND)

2 x WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Drive - 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD30EFRX

1 x Synology 2 Bay NAS DiskStation DS718+ (Diskless)

My question is for users with a DS718+, how does it perform?

  1. Is the set up to get a Plex Server continually running on the DS718+ difficult?
  2. Do you need to restart the server every once in a while?
  3. Do you experience any issues?
  4. What is your internet speed?
  5. Do you feel 100 Mb with a static IP will be enough to transcode for multiple users?

Thanks for your help.

If anyone has a guide on how to setup DS718+ with Plex, that would be super helpful.

It can hold up to 8 GB? I thought it was scaleable to 6GB on Amazon it says " * 2 GB DDR3L-1866 memory (scalable up to 6 GB); Scalable up to 7 drives with Synology DX517"

I am not new to Plex, but I am new to setting up Plex on a NAS. So all these guides do help and I appreciate it.

Good tip I will get a second 4GB for my NAS. That will be helpful especially that I plan on having multiple users.
