Synology 218+ NAS Memory Upgrade for Plex

G’day,

I’m just starting to use my Synology 218plus NAS as a Plex Media Server. The Synology DS218+ has an Intel Celeron J3355, 2 GHz CPU with the factory 2048 MB of RAM installed.

I suspect it would be able to transcode higher resolution videos much better and handle more streams with more RAM.

What is the max RAM capacity that can be installed, and what RAM would you recommend to get the best performance?

Thanks, but I’m struggling to identify exactly which Corsair, Crucial or Kingston memory kit I’d need to get 8GB via a 2 x 4GB matched pair. Could you please be more specific?
