Are you sure?
Huh, weird. Wonder what Iām doing wrong. Does that maintain the 16:9 thumbnails on the home page?
Oh, I see it converted the āOther Videosā into āMoviesā.
Yeah, thatās what Iām running into as well.
It does work if you change <musicvideo> to <movie> for importing NFO data, but you lose the 16:9 thumbbails on the main page.
Getting music videos to show up on the main page used to be possible using the inline MVās in the music libraries and going to Libraries under āManageā and selecting Show Recently Added Music Videos on Home. But thatās been broken for a very long time now.
So close except for the title. Landscape thumbnails.
I hacked the Custom Agents list to force Plex NFO movie to be secondary after Plex Personal Media.
Title probably doesnāt work because the primary title comes from Plex Personal Media. Maybe not such a big deal if your file is named with the title already anyways.
Donāt actually do this. I was just curious if it would work.
I was actually trying to see if this worked without any special effort before but kept running into an error message. ![]()

I think the main issue is that <musicvideo> type tag. Sorry to mention the ācompetitionā but Iām basically just pointing it to a folder that Jellyfin also points to. As I understand that tag allows Jellyfin to do what Iām trying to achieve here in Plex: 16:9 thumbnails on homepage with .nfo data imported.
In fact using the Wholphin app on AndroidTV with theme color set to orange, I could take a picture of it and thatās essentially what Plex would look like if this worked. ![]()

Correct. For my use case this would be a non-issue.
In case it hasnāt been already mentioned, itās important that nfo files are compatible with Plex and Kodi. At least to the point where extra info in Kodi based nfoās donāt break Plex. Many people use both product.s
From opening post:
Iām using tMM with Jellyfin NFO formating.
Seems to be working.
I see the new beta is out with the NFO functionality included:
Plex Media Server 1.43.1.10540 is now available to Plex Pass users in the Beta update channel.
A new NFO metadata agent for Movie and TV Show libraries.
(Metadata) Add ratings support to NFO parser (PM-4848)
(Metadata) Support spanning episodes in NFO parser (PM-4842)
Installed it, seems to be working as well as the preview builds.![]()
Although Iām a bit surprised you launched it while this is still an issue:
Also: am I correct in assuming that the issue of cast images not appearing in the āNew Experienceā apps will have to be resolved first before the NFO capability makes it into even a beta version of the Plex Server?
I just installed the new beta and Iām not seeing the NFO agent option anywhere. Added a new (test) movie library and the only available movie agents are Plex Movie and Plex Personal Media.
I was on 1.43.1.10512-0703a193b before upgrading to this beta.
Maybe give that a try?
Yes, confirmed.
Same issue here. Dont see NFO metadata agent anywhere. Never tried the preview build but now have no idea how to revert back and install it. Is there no way to get it on the beta without installing the preview build?
You can just install it and then install the Beta. Link is higher up the thread. Worked for me.
I even went back to the previous āstableā release once and it still worked. Funny enough I could still select the NFO agent even then, although of course it didnāt import the metadata.
EDIT: This was the latest preview build ā> Plex NFO Agent Forum Preview - #100 by drzoidberg33
@boblinthewild @sunizza @veeejay are you still not seeing the NFO agents? How are you accessing the server settings? App.plex.tv or bundled web app? Regardless, try to clear your browser cache to see if that helps.
I can see it now but only after going back and installing the preview build, then installing the latest beta. I had tried clearing browser cache/resetting browser but that hadnāt solved it. I was accessing server settings thru app.plex.tv
Still not seeing it. Using the local URL, not app.plex.tv. I did also try app.plex.tv though.
I also tried in an incognito window and cleared cache.
I was on the preview build for subtitles prior to updating to the beta.
