Plex not adding a movie to library

Let’s pretend that I am not using this specific meta agent. My questions still stand:

  1. Is there a way of reverting back to my edited metadata , from a backup perhaps,

You can try to restore an earlier database snapshot:

  1. Is there a way to lock down metadata fields so that they never get overwritten when updating libraries

It usually doesn’t happen, provided all your media are ‘matched’. If they are not matched, Plex will try to match them upon the next library scan.
So make sure to make the whole library a ‘Personal Media’ library. Then each item will be prematched with the ‘Personal Media’ agent.
The alternative is to go ‘Fix Match’ on every item. But who wants to do that…

  1. How do I back up my metadata or even export my metadata to a spreadsheet
  • Backup your database file (only possible if Plex Server is stopped beforehand, or your backup copy will be damaged)
  • Write the metadata into your files’ embedded metatags. That way they are imported automatically if you add them to a fresh server installation.
  • Use ExportTools to export every and all data from a Plex library. But there is no way to re-import from there, yet.

A post was split to a new topic: I’ve just put 3 movies on my NAS, but Plex will not pick them up at all
