I have added a TV show which is a 2016 2 part docudrama by the History Channel called “Barbarians Rising”. I have put it into my TV library but, irrespective of how many times I update the library, Plex does not even acknowledge that the files are there and therfore does not add the program.
Is there any way of forcing the files to be added even if I have to manually add the relevant program information?
How are you naming the files.
If you have not already, you might want to look at the plex naming guide pages:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/sections/200059498-Naming-and-Organizing-TV-Shows
How, exactly, do you have the file named and what is the directory structure. For TV shows you must follow the Plex naming and structure for TV shows. I believe this structure would work. I got the naming from the TVDB and that is what Plex uses.
TV Shows <— The library points here and the name can be whatever you want.
---------Barbarians Rising <— This folder holds the season folders
------------------Season 01 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 01
-------------------------Barbarians Rising - s01e01 - Resistance.ext
-------------------------Barbarians Rising - s01e02 - Rebellion.ext
-------------------------Barbarians Rising - s01e03 - Revenge.ext
You “might” get other names and/or structures to work but why try? Plex is VERY particular about TV naming and it is best to just abide by what Plex wants.
Thank you for the responses. Everything else I have is set up correctly. When I looked up this particular show on IMDB it wasn’t showing that there were multiple episodes so, when I downloaded two episodes which were designated as part 1 and part 2, I thought it was simply one show split into two files. I have now realised that there are about 8 episodes so have renamed what I have to suit the Plex naming format.
