I live on a sailboat and was trying to come up with a way to watch movies offline. I bought the DS216play for storage and because it was compatible with Plex. I have a home network that the DS216play lives on and have the TV’s (Roku) and tablets connected. When we have access to internet, we have access to Plex, but not offline. Any ideas?
you can configure the Plex server to ignore authentication within the constraints of your local network.
check out Settings > Server > Network… there’s a setting which should be labelled like “List of networks / IP addresses not requiring authentication”. This should at least work after the server has been initially authenticated.
