I am trying to find a way to make Plex works locally at home without internet access (an not over DLNA).
I have QNAP TS-451A NAS storage with Plex server installed and attached to my library. Also, I have 2 Samsung smart tv connected to the same network as the NAS.
DLNA works in Plex for local play but it shows as folder and not Plex home page.
Is there a way to show the Plex home screen (below) on my TV ?
you might want to look for threads about using Plex on a trailer or boat… there’s some geniuses with workarounds for almost every scenario
Plex doesn’t need a permanent internet connection to work in your local network. However Plex will occasionally require to authenticate your account via their server. But as long as you don’t actively play online media (such as remote libraries or trailers/extras) you should be good to keep using it just fine offline (except for the authentications).
May I ask why you need to run it completely offline?
Except for those people on the road or on their boat it seems to have become a rare use case these days…
