Plex not Ignoring Small Files (Less than 50MB)

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2902 (Windows)

Hi,

I am having issues where Plex is picking up files that are only a few megabytes in size. Reading around it is meant to be ignoring these as standard. I have a .plexignore setup with some rules which are working well for filtering file extensions and folders etc but this is no use for getting these small files ignored.

This is an ‘Other Video’ library.

Unfortunately I cannot move or rename these files due to the folder structure I have and they cannot be excluded by .plexignore in any way as there are folders beneath these files I need to be picked up and I don’t believe this can be specified in a .plexignore file.

I have tried this using the following scanners:
Plex Movie Scanner
Plex Video Files

Is this expected behaviour? If not what could be going wrong?

In order for a valid video file to be ignored by the scanner it needs to be less than 300 MB in size and include “sample” in the file name (both must be true). Here’s the support document which explains what is automatically ignored:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201381883-special-keyword-file-folder-exclusion/

Unfortunately, these exclusions are hard-coded; there are no settings which affect this.

Thanks for the clarification on this. Back to the drawing board.
