Plex not merging files

Recently plex has started not merging files after it has done a scan. What can I do about it?

Plex identifies movies as belonging together if they’re named alike… meaning not just the parent folder’s name but the actual file name which should only deviate by the part after the year.

following the naming conventions helps…
e.g.

/GD_1/Movies/
   Solaris (1972)/
      Solaris (1972) [Bluray-1080p].mkv

/plexcloudservers/Media/Movies/Movies-Foreign/
   Solaris (1972)/
      Solaris (1972) [PROPER.1080p.BluRay.x264-SADPANDA].mkv

(theoretically you don’t need the square brackets… I just added those to indicate to Plex to ignore the technical blahblah)

I dont think it is the file being named incorrectly as it is able to fetch metadata fine. Is there anyway to make plex scan through and merge all the files automatically?

Also I cant manually match more than two films before i have to refresh the page because all the titles to go loading…

I’ve never seen that before… I try to properly name my movies in the first place, so I rarely need to use Fix Match. :innocent:

OP was probably using a different default metadata agent before, so that the first copy is matched with e.g. Plex Movie while the second one is matched with The Movie Database.
Simply select both posters and Merge.
