Plex not picking up a movie

Hey team,

So I recently got all the episodes on the Star Wars saga in glorious 1080p, which is great (obviously).

The problem I am having is that for some reason Plex will just not add episode 6 into the library. It added the other 5 movies no problem without me needing to do anything.

However; no matter what I do it will not add episode 6.

Naming convention for all 6:

Star.Wars.Episode.I.The.Phantom.Menace.1999.1080p.BluRay.DTS-ES.x264

Star.Wars.Episode.2.Attack.Of.The.Clones.2002.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264

Star.Wars.Episode.3.Revenge.Of.The.Sith.2005.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264

Star.Wars.1977.Episode.IV.A.New.Hope.1080p.BluRay.DTS-ES.x264

Star.Wars.Episode.V.The.Empire.Strikes.Back.1980.1080p.BluRay.DTS-ES.x264

Star.Wars.Episode.6.Return.Of.The.Jedi.1983.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264

So as you can see they are all similar with some slight variations (don't ask), but for all my logical reasoning I cannot see why it will not add Ep 6.

To give more detail, the movie files are infact inside folders of the exact same name.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

This is how I have all of mine named:

Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) 720p

Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) 720p

Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) 720p

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) 1080p

Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) 1080p

Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) 1080p

Your's could be a number of things causing issues... it could be the mismatched name or it could be the year is out of brackets causing confusion with the scanner.

You should be naming them according to Plex's naming convention.

Those are not appropriate names.

Mine also closely resemble this but I don't bother with the quality. Plex analyzes files and finds them for me anyway in whatever quality they are.

Yeah, I only added it so I could quickly replace my dvd rips with my Bluray rips as I was re-ripping my entire collection.  But I also leave them in there when posting to show that you can have the extra information as long as it is after what the scanner is looking for (or if you put the information inside of [ ] tags)

I understand that they 'should' be named accoring to those conventions; the real question is: why does it pick up 5 of the 6 movies (that are not currently named accoring to the 'conventions') but not the last one?

Because while the scanner will do its best it isn't psychic. If the matching information isn't close enough it won't match it.

Nevermind - I figured it out.

After changing the folder name and file name to exactly the naming convention - it showed up!

What was curious was that it did not show up as recently added. What I found was that after changing the name back to the original, the movie in plex was not "unavailable" either.

So I found that plex saved the movie as "Return of the Jedi" as apposed to the other 5 as "Star Wars Episode # [Title]"

Once I discovered this I could change the name in plex to match the others.

shame you didn’t suss it on on the May the 4th

By the way what did you name them as I am having the same issue

JUST IN CASE IT IS LOST IN THE THREAD*

I’m betting most with this issue has it under “Return of the Jedi” in plex. Just fix the match to make it all pretty and neat.

know this is a old thread but i have te still problem but only whit : Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
and Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)

Both the folder and the files are named as i wrote them her, any one got a clue why plex dont find them?

found the problem, plex sorted them as “the mepire strikes back” and “return of the jedi” and not star wars as it did whit the others so thats why i diddent find them
