I’m converting some of the extras in my movies to avoid transcoding. I’m using Subtitle Editor and MKVToolnix to convert PGS subtitles in SRT. The problem is that, after replacing the old file with a new one, Plex is not able to discover the change. If I open the file, it still shows PGS subtitles as options, although they don’t work and, of course, they are SRT now. I’ve tried to scan the library, scan the movie and even analyze it, but there’s no way to force Plex to refresh the extras. Until now, the only solution is changing the name of the file, then it takes as a new one and shows it correctly with the SRT subtitles. Is there a way to force extras files to be refreshed withouth changing the filename?
And this all, because Plex is not able to load external SRT subtitles in extras!!!
I tried Refresh Metadata, but that didn’t work. I think you’re right and you have to load the file again - but you could remove it, scan, see that it’s gone, then put it back. That might be quicker.
Yes, that’s the only workaround I see. I think I’ll add some extra character to all the files converted and after a rescan, will put them their original names again. But I’d like Plex did it alone, as it does with the main movie file.
