Plex not scanning M2TS or TS files on NAS

Has anybody had this issue? Plex on my F4 210 NAS will not scan, recognize or serve up any M2TS or TS files. It works just fine on my Desktop… Very Frustrating! Is it a setting I’m missing?

When you say “It works just fine on my Desktop…” – are you referring to m2ts/ts files in general or those particular files?

Plex will ignore files under certain conditions, e.g. based on naming, permissions or if files are still being copied to your target location:

Edit: Same if your m2ts/ts files are in a bdmv/video_ts folder structure

I have another set up in a different location with a NAS and desktop. That location has no problem scanning and serving out the exact same m2ts/ts files 1080P or 4k. I can remotely see and play those files from home…

Have you checked/confirmed Plex can actually see those files?

Simple test… you can use the “Add folder” dialog in the library’s settings to navigate the file system. Do the files show when you navigate to their folder? (no need to actually add anything… just a simple verification if the files might be restricted in any way)

The Plex server that I set up at work on the desktop and the NAS has no problem scanning and serving up m2ts/ts files. The desktop and NAS set up at my home wont read the EXACT same m2ts/ts files that are at work,

Yes… It can “see” the files.

Then let’s dig into the bits and bytes of it and share some more details…

  • what version of Terramaster’s NAS OS do you have installed?
  • what exact version of the Plex Media Server do you have installed on your NAS vs. your desktop?
  • what library type are we talking about within Plex (movies, tv-shows, other video) and what scanner is it using (library context menu: Manage Library > Edit, Advanced tab, Scanner).
    The latter should only apply for movies and other videos type libraries
  • does that library contain other files which show up correctly within Plex?
  • despite it working on the desktop when using the same files… can you give an example of the used folder structure and file names?
