When I record “Greatest Hits” type music, I like to specify the actual year the selection was released in the metadata. This apparently causes Plex to not show he album art, even though the songs will play. If I change ALL the years to the release date, then the album art shows. Is there any workaround for this? I realize this may be a slightly unusual request.
After some testing, it appears that Plex has issues if the year for all the songs is NOT the same in an album. I tried changing them all to a year not in Musicbrainz, and it worked. If the songs have different years, it doesn’t.
My assumption here is basically wrong. I found that missing track numbers was the most prevalent issue. I fixed those and the art showed up. I still have one that I’m working on, but Plex doesn’t appear to be having issues with the years. Sorry if I steered anyone the wrong way.
