Plex Notify

I'm not sure how useful logs are for you given that i've not got anything set up (as there's no app for WP8). Running 0.9.9.0 and it would be great if you can incorporate pushalot for us WP users!

I'm adding pushalot today with another set of fixes

It's just a pointer file to the location on the install on codeplex. It says it corrupted?

It says Cannot Continue. The application is improperly formatted. contact the application vendor for assistance.

I have a question about the "Max notification history" setting...

Is this only for the notification screen or also affects the statistics screen?

Basically, I would like to keep a lot of history, based on time, not on number of notifications

And also, in the same subject, in the statistics screen, I think it should have a screen based on events only (not based on users or movies). Just a statistic screen based on time with all events (combining users, sorted by date/time)

That setting does not affect statistics. It's for the main window (If you double click on the icon) you will see the notification history) it sets the max displayed there.

The main window has all events listed in order. This window at the moment is cached. So if the application restarts it will lose all information. There are tons of enhancements planned for this like the ability to click on them and get the details and them being loaded from the database.

Humm have you tried downloading it again? Also what version of windows are you running? Make sure you have .net 4.5 installed.

Donation sent! That's brilliant, thanks a lot.

This application is awesome.

It really does exactly what users wanted for a while IMO.

Now, just talking about future road maps, I really think Web client is what would make this app the bomb.

In my situation, PMS isn't on a machine I get in often (just basic management stuff in RDP); server stuff...

I imagine if all the screens in the app would be web pages;;; that would just be awesome.

PlexWatch/web did it but it is WAY too complicated for the typical user to install it.

Your app couldn't be simpler to install/configure. (one installation, that's it)

Best example of the perfect concept (installation and management) is CouchPotato, SickBeard, SABNZBD, etc...

Is this kind of feature planned (even if it's really not now, but later)?

I think it would follow PMS concept (web management and features)

I know it's not THAT simple but still... I think the future of this kind of application should be in this direction IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this app with the PushOver, etc... but for the actual application screens, it's cool to test but I won't RDP in my server every time I want to see what's what.

I'm just excited to see where it will be going in the future, so I'm brainstorming ideas... ;)

There will be a web server with this in the coming month. But. The remote admin features will Have to be plugins. Im going to create a great framework for plugins to user the built in web server and installing the plugins will be a breeze. I have the file extension .pnplugin already in the application I just have to handle the execution of them. My grand vision is that Plex Notify will be a framework to build powerful plugins for Web GUI's, statistics, notification providers and more with the plugin extension. The application will still have a lot of features included.

The best part about this app is yes, you have a installed on your server, but you also have it installed on your other machines with a centralized database such as MSsql or MySql, and that is how it will shine. You will get the full functionality of the Primary Install of Plex Notify without having to remote in to manage your server. I highly encourage you to do this. The web is nice if you dont have Plex Notify installed but I wont be doing any statistics on the web, or much of anything besides the plugin framework and Email settings for users. I will have to teach myself web dev for that because I have very little experience Web development.

Just to be clear, the windows GUI will have the server management tools on it and all the stats goodies but the web will not. You will be able to remotely configure your plex media server, just with Plex Notify installed with the centralized database setup.

This week I am also working on getting the database to migrate your data from one database to the other when you chose a different database in the advanced settings.

This is a great start for this informative app. However, I am not seeing media info when in the Plex Notify - Statistics, as shown below. Any ideas?

Sounds great!

I'll try to centralize this on my "MySQL" and test this concept.

I already have one for XBMC so it should be easy...

Thanks again for your excellent work..

This is because the movie was not transcoded they are watching it as a direct stream. I will make that more clear in future updates.

Would it be possible for the app to show the audio/video codecs and resolution when either direct playing or transcoding? It would be nice to get a quick view of this type of information when viewing the Plex Notify - Statistics page in either scenario.

Yep! Its a quick fix I will add it to todays update.

I'm trying to find docs on how to create the database on my MySQL...

Tried to change the advanced settings and made sure the MySQL credentials were OK but I think i'm missing something obvious....

I saw your are working on migrating database to MySQL but is there a way to create a new one now or  I should wait a bit?

So you have to have a database set up on mysql and input the connection string. the database can be empty with no tables, Plex Notify will generate the tables automatically.

I love this website for connection strings: http://www.connectionstrings.com/mysql/

Yeah, I guess it's a little out of my comfort zone lol...

So I would simply need to create the database on my MySQL server and Plex Notify would do the rest?

If so, great except that I'm a little lost (for XBMC, to start this, I really just followed the wiki, lol). XBMC creates the database, I only had to create the user though.

so my question at this point would be how to create the database...

***If too long to explain, I'll wait, don,t want to take your time for my lack of knowledge...

do you have mysql workbench? if you do its pretty simple, to add another database to an existing mysql install.

yes, I have it

yes, I have it

I found this. Create your database, input your connection string in Plex Notify http://www.connectionstrings.com/mysql/ and you should be all set. to test just start watching a show and if you get a notification it works.
