Is anyone else having issues bringing up plex on android? Ive tried it on and off the same network and its not pulling up the server, doesnt even see it. Also wont work or android tv, Nvidia Shield.
No problems here. Shield TV x 2 and Nexus 6P Plex apps launch and play movies. What server version are you running, and what app versions? Can you reach the server from a web browser on the same computer and a different computer?
Yes Ive been seeing this on android tv for a few weeks now. It just spins while locating the server.
To work-around I have to restart plex server and then force quit the plex client on my android tv. Sony recently released an update which removes the ability to force-quit apps - so now I have to restart the tv. This happens pretty much every day.
Even the web player takes 20+ seconds to locate plex server running on the same machine. It used to find the server instantly. It has been like this since around the time the new security features came on board.
An update to plex server was just released so fingers crossed this goes away!
You might want to switch secure connections to preferred on the server and the clients to see if that helps.
Hey guys. Actually I found that it was remote access that was causing the problem.
That is - I had remote access disabled because I didn’t like the sound of exposing my server to the internet. But after reading about how remote access is done in plex under the new security model I figured that remote access is actually pretty integral to normal operation of plex now.
It all works seamlessly and instantly now that I’ve turned remote access on and forwarded the ports on my router.
