Plex on Chromebook read SD card please

I just want to have my Chromebook Plus read video files on the SD card but Flex can’t see it. Here is A Treatise on it. It must be added to the Android app that works fine otherwise.

Currently, the Chromebook can’t see the SD card in the Plex app.

Any response from the Plex team on this? With all of the new Chrome OS devices (Google Slate, etc) this would be a great feature. I’ve got a 200 GB SD card in my Chromebook now but am stuck with the 40 GB of available space on the hardware.

I got this to work recently (with some minor UI bugs). On my samsung chromebook I’m able to manage the app and allow access to storage. Once you do that plex will then show the option for external storage for sync.

The bug comes in on playback, there is an orange hue that covers the screen. I worked around that by just playing the video from the files app until they patch that.

If you grant it storage permissions now it seems to be working fine

While the option is there now, it doesn’t seem to work. When I click “Sync storage location” it gives me the option of Internal storage or External storage. Only problem is that it says the external storage capacity is 0.0. When I select it anyway, it says “Location not valid: The specified file location is not writeable and therefore is not suitable for Sync”.

I have tried with with freshly reformatted 64 GB and 200 GB microSD cards.

When I go into Android Storage Settings, it shows the SD card and that it has 59.27 GB of capacity. I also able to copy files onto the SD card from the Android file browser.

If you are seeing external storage but it’s listed as 0.0 or you get an error that says “Location not valid: The specified file location is not writeable and therefore is not suitable for Sync”, go into the Android apps permission and enable the Storage permission. It does not prompt for the permission if the app is already installed.
