Plex on windows 10 will encode but not decode

I did a fresh install of windows 10 and plex media server.
I can see plex hw trans-coding on the right of the file but not left.
I read somewhere that said you need to stop plex running as a service.
Not sure how to do that. Would anyone have the steps for that?

If you did not set up Plex to run as a service yourself, then it isn’t and that’s not the problem. Decoding is not as intensive of encoding, so even if it’s not using hardware, it shouldn’t put too much stress on your system, unless it’s HEVC video.

Keep in mind that the hardware used for encoding and decoding are different. Just because it can encode does not mean it will decode, or vice versa. Decoding is done via DXVA2, so make sure your system supports that.

Hey, thanks so much for the response. That knocks out one troubleshooting steps. I should prob give more info about my system. I have a i5 3470 with a Quadro p2000. The video is hevc and I have tried x264. On certain video I’ll see the GPU usage go up but a lot of CPU usage. It’s only doing part of the video with the p2000.
