Plex on Windows IoT?

Another bump. I’m also happy to give this a try if no one has been able to get it to work yet.

Getting the appx is not the problem

The problem are the dependencies which you also need to have during the installation.

Any ideas on what dependencies are needed?

Isn’t the PLEX Server program headless anyway? All we need is a headless installer.

Didn’t want to make two posts here but couldn’t find the edit button. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B as a playback device and I would love to get a second one to play the host for the PLEX collection. However, all the options I read so far involved some sort of Linux…

I am talking about the plex app in the store, which is the client (not the Server).

The intention is to have a “cheap” Touchscreen ready device to play the collection stored on the server.

The main dependency is with the store framework, all other dependencies are no problem. I have requested Microsoft to comment on the possibility to include Windows IOT in the Store framework. By now i have not received any usable feedback…

Can I use the “enterprise” version for PLEX? I think you could… Right? Is the enterprise (IOT) version available for a trial somewhere?

I know this thread is pretty old.

But i got it to work. You can get the windows store dependency from VS.

But… as Raspberry Pi (none of them) has any support for Hardware accelerated GPU on IoT Core, you are SOL if you want to run video above SD resolutions.

If you have a Dragonboard 410c however it plays 1080p content just fine.

The UI is not well suited for larger displays. What we really need is the Xbox One version of the app. Getting that appxbundle would be a lot harder.
