How can one fix the display of a cover chosen from the list proposed? Plex is constantly changing them for me… The only solution I found is to download the cover I want myself. It is very laborious when you have more than 3000 films like me.

Please share a screen capture of the filesystem, showing from root of your movies library down to a media with this problem
No media in particular. If I select a cover (media1), in some time, Plex will probably have decided that another cover will be more appropriate… In any case, my choice is not necessarily the one that will remain. It’s not a bug but a feature that is really not interesting in my case.
To be sure that the cover is not changed, I have to upload it myself (media2). In this case, it will never move.

Generally, if you manually select a cover out of the list it will usually stay in place after library or metadata refresh.
If you leave it on the “auto selected” cover then if the top choice changes, the cover will change. For example, at TheMovieDB people can vote for the default cover and if it changes, when your library metadata updates, the cover might change. This typically doesn’t happen if you’ve picked a poster yourself.
If you add a poster to your movie folder (Movies->Miami Vice folder) or use the “upload” option that one typically stays.
If I manually select a cover, upload my own, or add one in the movie folder, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen the cover change.
Edit: There might also be a preference for properly formatted\sized covers too. I’m not sure about that one though.
Next time it happens, please post a zip with the PMS logs, and mention the name of the media
It happens regularly. It happens exactly as Insomnique_1 describes it. The only way to keep a poster is to download it manually, unfortunately…
Too bad there is no option to keep a poster selected in the list…

So what is the use of choosing a poster in the list if it can be automatically changed…
