Disable Plex automatically changing covers

USE CASE
I upload a movie or series to Plex. I have the ability to set a custom poster, but because I like what is currently set I feel no need to change it. I come back only to discover that poster has changed because there is a new poster in the top/default slot.

Please add an option to disable automatic updating of covers for users who want more control over what is displayed on their servers

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to lock posters the same way you can lock other metadata attributes. As you pointed out, Plex will already lock the selection once you change the poster selection (and as long as that poster remains available, e.g. it’s not taken down due to some legal/copyright issue on Plex or one of the metadata repositories used by Plex).

Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Lock Posters

Ability to lock posters the same way you can lock other fields. Regardless of the official statement posters do change. I’ve searched multiple posts on here and reddit where people experience the same issue but regardless posters do sometimes change. I’ve read "When you manually select a poster it is automatically flagged as locked in the Plex server database. "… but many many people have experienced this change, it definetely happens. I don’t know why out of all the fields that you can lock …
