Plex Player app keeps freezing overnight on Mac

The player app on Mac mini (Mac OS Monterey 12.6.3) consistently freezes when Plex is left running over 1-2 days (with OS sleeping). A force quit and restart always fixes it. This is somewhat new. Might be since my new Mac mini or with a new OS. It has persisted across many OS, Plex player and PMS updates.

I suspect I’ll have to post logs. Thanks in advance,

Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563
Player Version#: 1.64.2.3546-5107ec40

Yes, logs would be necessary to look at this more.

Thanks.

The complete GUI freeze happened again just now after sleeping the Mac overnight. Was able to Quit as opposed to Force Quit to rectify. Logs attached. I also included the log from inside the Player, guess those are not typically required?

Each of the log files shows a normal shutdown of the app. You should capture logs immediately after you have to force-quit the app.

Additionally, your logs above also contain logs from the old plex media player which is no longer supported.

I captured these logs immediately after I quit Plex due to a 100% frozen GUI. Force quit wasn’t required but defect occurred.

In your OP you state that this occurs when the system sleeps yet your most recent log has no discontinuity in timestamps indicating that the system was not put to sleep in the 13 minutes that this log spans.

I must not understand the logs process. It was:

Sleep computer around midnight
Wake computer next day
Check for frozen Plex, confirm, gather logs, send here

What do I need to do differently?

Thanks.

There is nothing in your logs to indicate any sort of problem (and as I said before, every log indicates a normal quit and no force-quit).
If you reload the UI (cmd-r) does it work?

I don’t know what I can say as this issue doesn’t occur for others.
