Recently updated Plex on Mac and now when I go to quit the app it freezes and I get the rainbow spinning wheel. I’m forced to “Force Quit” and am prompted to send a report. This was not happening before the newest update so no clue why it’s happening now. I’m worried that if I force quit too many times it might corrupt my server or something.
What freezes, Plex Media Server or Plex Desktop?
If Plex Desktop:
Server Version#:1.32.1.6999
Player Version#:1.69.1.3755-e00242c8
I don’t have logs, so please let me know where to find them to provide.
So I just restarted and wiped my mac because I wanted to do a fresh install. Before hand plex worked flawlessly and there was no problems. But after I reinstalled its displaying really strange behavior now. The app opens and works perfectly, but I can not (no matter what) close or exit plex. It just hangs indefinitely. I have to force quit it, and if that do…
Plex (player) for Mac 1.69.1.3755
PMS for Mac 1.32.1.6999
Plex (player) host Mac:
Mac Studio (2022) macOS 12.6.4
Plex (player) for Mac 1.69.1.3755 Hangs 100% when Quitting (⌘q).
(Reverted to 1.68.2.3746, which appeared to function normally before upgrading to 1.32.1.6999, and now continues appearing to function normally after reverting.)
Yeah, it’s Desktop. I’ll just wait for another update for it to hopefully be fixed.
See thread for link to download 1.67.2.3705, two versions back. Possibly fall back until Plex fixes the problem with 1.69.1.3755.
Due to a update of a component required for some fixes to the HTPC and Desktop apps, 1.37.3 of HTPC and 1.67.2 of Plex for macOS are the last version macOS 10.13 can run.
Version 1.38.2 of HTPC which requires macOS 10.14 was released mistakenly released before disabling the auto updater for that version.
If you are running macOS 10.13, you can get the previous version of HTPC 1.37.3.3706 here and Plex for macOS 1.67.2.3705 here .
Also, to stop auto-updates:
Edit the plex.ini file. Add the following lines:
[debug] <-- add debug section if it does not exist.
disableUpdater=true
Plex Desktop:
Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\plex.ini
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Plex/plex.ini
Plex HTPC:
Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex HTPC\plex.ini
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Plex HTPC/plex.ini
