I’m looking for a Plex client Player. I currently have 2 Amazon Fire TV’s and enjoy them. We primarily use them for Netflix (25%) and Plex (75%) streaming from the Plex Server so I’m not tied to Amazon.
We are wanting to add another TV and steaming box. I’m looking at another Fire TV or Roku.
Anyone have any preferences in relatation to Plex client? Does one have more feature or updated more often?
I have both Rokus(Roku2HD/Roku 3) and FireTVs (1st generation).
I much prefer my Rokus for Plex use. The Roku 3 is bulletproof. Newer models are currently undergoing bug fixes and are, IMO, not ready for Prime Time.
Having said that, I do prefer my FireTVs for Amazon content. There are some issues with the Amazon app for Roku that in time should be resolved. Netflix, while quite annoying generally, performs equally well (or equally poorly) on either device.
I have a Roku 3 & a Fire TV 4K. TBH there is little to choose between them for running Plex. The Fire TV 4K has the advantage that you can install Kodi & then use the Plex for Kodi Add-on that allows Plex to use the excellent media player in Kodi rather than the native Fire TV one.
