Whoops. Not quite. Just played a 44.1/24 bit 6 channel DTS file. Wrong pitch.
Could you please send me a sample of that file?
Sorry: I’ve just been too busy at work and personal. I will come back to you when I can.
OK - back again with further details on this.
The file version that is not playing back properly, is an mka wrapped version of the original 24/44.1 DTS 5.1 channel file. I have made multiple versions of the original DTS file in order to do tests for both playback and metadata. So while the DTS and FLAC versions (created from the same DTS source file) works fine, the MKA does not.
The MKA file was created with MKVMerge. here is the MediaInfo Tree data:
I tried to upload a file here but no go. I will have to provide you (privately) a OneDrive location. Standby.
I just wrote my testing results of the provided file to you via a pm.
For everyone, to make it short. The file works perfectly fine on my end. Did some further testing with an iPhone recording and checked in DaVinci Resolve if the recordings differ (no), also checked if Shazam would recognize the song (shazam was not able to detect music with wrong pitch in the past on my side, the sample was recognized perfectly fine). Also created myself a 5.1 44.1khz dts sample to check if it would work - only tested stereo 44.1khz dts files in the past - but that 5.1 sample worked fine.
Will test the file with my LG OLED which also accepts DTS in a week but I assume it works fine there as well.
That’s all I can do.
OK - well, on my end, I can clearly hear the difference in speed and pitch because I can play the DTS source, the FLAC version that plays fine and the MKA version that does not… all back-to-back.
All within Plex.
When I get back by the end of the week I will send you a recording of me doing this in real-time, so that you can see I’m not making it up.
