@e10kstarfire You have a serious attitude issue. No wonder you have to use multiple accounts to troll and fail.
Note: I’ve posted both facts and links, you’ve only trolled by using multiple accounts lol.

Cool.
Got a link to it on Intel website, can’t find it ?
I guess you aren’t going to give us the specs for a working HTPC to use? I’d like to put together one of these mysterious machines if you’d let us know what to get. We could start with just a parts list of your HTPC - that should be quick and easy.
Did you have a chance to read up on the Channels DVR and how it uses tuners like the HDHomeRun? Obviously the HDHomeRun tuner is the source of the MPEG2 video stream. Pretty straight forward and simple to test/verify.
Intel Core i5-8900U? Is that a real CPU? I don’t find any specs at all - its almost like it never existed? Where can I find one these, new or used? Passmark benchmarks along with any video performance benchmarks anywhere at all?
It is almost like we are being trolled here ![]()
Bottom line is I’d like Plex LiveTV and DVR to work. I’m willing to do my part by paying for a subscription and/or buying hardware that will make it work. From the conversations here it doesn’t appear that any amount of hardware I buy is going to make it work. That leaves us with relying on Plex to fix their software - if that involves a subscription, so-be-it, but it has to work before I’ll subscribe.
Let the trolling roll on!
Can’t see that happening (unfortunately?).
Best option for getting Plex to fix the software is to provide logs etc as I said before.
I know it may not work, but IMHO it’s the best and probably only option.
My setup is really pretty OK with regards to Live TV & DVR, perfect, no, but passes the wife test ![]()
For the record, Channels does not use multicast.
@Mike_Mike If you’re a fully verified Intel partner and not just a consumer then you can login at the link below and go and search the SKU list for yourself, just find the 8thgen section and it will list all the information and tech specs.
You’re probably right - I may try the log thing - sadly, it doesn’t appear that Plex does much with any of them posted here. Pretty discouraging…
You are using Fire TV Stick 4K right? Mine mostly work with my media libraries but not so great with the Live TV stuff. Especially when I try to watch a currently recording program - which I do quite frequently. Tivo got me into that habit to be able to skip commercials by watching 10 or 15 minutes after the program starts.
The Ubuntu install of Plex HTPC does make a noticeable improvement but the mouse/remote problem kills that idea.
Thanks!
Are you sure about that?!
What would you know about Channels anyway?!
Thank you, I suspect that Mr. HomeMediaServer2018 is well aware of how Channels works - it just doesn’t fit into his trolling.
Thanks for clarifying and making such a great DVR setup.
You’d think there would be at least a mention of it somewhere on the public Internet if it really ever existed.
Still waiting for the specs of your setup when you have the time.
@Mike_Mike It’s very weird, as I’ve just spoken to channels support and they confirmed two things.
Yes, I use FireTV 4K and the LG TV WebOS app mainly.
Can’t say I ffwd or rew TV as it’s recording, tend to do that after a programme has finished recording.
Used to have a Tivo, great in it’s day - thumbs up ![]()
It doesn’t. I wouldn’t bother replying to him anymore.
@e10kstarfire I have no idea why you spend your time trying and I do emphasise trying to troll, but clearly you have no interest in anything factual. It’s sad to see someone spend so much time doing that instead of adding some positivity to someone’s life, I mean you could be out there helping people with Plex instead of this trolling.
I’m not buying that you really believe HDHomeRun tuners use the Internet to stream what they tune to from the over-the-air. Why would you need a tuner in the first place and how does it work when the Internet connection is down?
Besides, I just called the Pentagon and they verified that Tesla builds their cars in space. Except for the Model X, they build that at their plant on Mars and then ship them back here via SpaceX Express.
Just a little joke - I didn’t really call the Pentagon. But they do make the Model X on Mars.
There really is no point to our conversation here - but if you’d ever like to let us in on the specs of your HTPC I’d love to give it a go.

@Mike_Mike Notice on the screenshot below it states “streaming source” and it states HLS streams, that’s multicast to you. Sorry that I discovered your trolling on multiple accounts including making a fake account to make it look like channels themselves had posted. As for your interest on the specs, my answer is no, I don’t help little trolls.
Right, I created another account back on October 11th 2017 because I knew you’d be here posting incorrect information about Channels in February 2023.
HLS Streams has nothing to do with HDHomeRun tuners - they use MPEG. But I’m sure you already know that.
@Mike_Mike You just added the website details to an already existing account you had, it seems you have a few, switching from a mobile device to post on one while posting on a computer on another.
