Hi.
Gradually migrating my music by artist to Plex. These are Apple lossless .m4a files that lived in iTunes / the new Music App. I have a very particular system with my metadata - and have spent a long time perfecting it. Up until very recently, Plex was taking my metadata correctly - perfect.
Since updating to 1.18.7.2457, Plex now seems to be ignoring my own metadata and pulling from the web. If i change my library to use “Personal Media Artists” agent, it pulls the correct metadata. But obviously i lose a lot of the premium features (I’m a Plex Pass lifetime user). Change my agent back to Plex Music, and it decides to go off and do it’s own thing again. “Prefer Local Metadata” is ticked, and the Agent for Albums -> Personal Media Albums has "Local Media Assets (Albums) ticked and up the top.
As i said this was working fine and dandy until i applied this recent update.
Amongst things now messing with my OCD.
- Track and album titles contain lower case words in some cases - all my music has Initial Caps.
- I split multiple CD Single releases into separate albums (appending CD1 and CD2 etc) to end of album title so i can see the different cover-art for different releases. Plex is now dropping the CD1 and CD2.
- Where tracks have different artists, Plex is displaying totally different info to what i have in my files - which are still in iTunes showing the correct naming.
- Track order is messed up on some albums with double CD’s
Everything looks fine in MacOS Music App and displays correctly using the metadata on there.
Yes - i can go in and manually change the metadata in Plex, but that means double handling everything.
Switch to Personal Media Artists agent - and boom it all sorts itself out correctly.
So something has changed in the last few days that Plex is now ignoring my local metadata.
Any ideas?
